I have a $1 a yr lifetime membership to a gym< Somuchtruth >
Suddenly the gym has become a trendy place with very high yearly rates. They would love me to miss my $1 payment and cancel me so they make it as difficult as possible. Although they have online membership payment for everyone else... my payment must be made in person in two stages that starts with a phone call, so my paperwork can be prepared they say. Then a few days later an in person visit to pay the $1. All of this can only happen within the week before my membership is due to expire, no prepayment allowed. If I don't show up in person... I lose the membership, so hospitalizations or vacations at the time are not possible. I cannot prepay the membership 30 years in advance either.
Is this legal? Are they within their rights to treat me differently than the other members of the gym?
