I outgrew M&Ms several decades ago. They were too sweet for me anymore. I could get buy with a peanut one and the peanut butter ones weren't too bad. Mostly, I just switched to Reese's Pieces for that quick candy snack fix.
I found some interesting M&M flavors along the way that were fun to try. They had a crispies filled one that was nice. It was the same M&M you were used to but with a rice krispie crunchie in the middle. They had a pretzel one that was weird. And I recently had their honey roasted peanut one. I didn't enjoy it as much as the regular peanut one because, again, it was too sweet. I never cared for their almond one either.
But now! They have an M&M that has a center like a Thin Mint!
If you like Thin Mints, mint, or York Peppermint Patties...you're not going to want to skip these. How are these different from their Holiday Mint ones? I dunno. I haven't had the Holiday Mint ones...but these have a crunchy cookie center so I'm assuming that's the difference.
But they're not the only new kids on the block!
You've probably seen that M&M has a peanut butter & jelly flavor. They have a caramel cold brew coffee. They have a peanut butter & cinnamon flavor, they have their yearly Pumpkin Spice one...and, are you ready for this? Lemon Meringue Pie! Now I see they have a marshmallow crispy and a cherry chocolate cupcake flavor too!
Amusingly, there used to be these Pumpkin Pie Spice white chocolate-covered almonds that would come out around this time of the year and I'd buy the entire allotment when it came to the store near my house. They were SO addictive. The soft white chocolate coating had a chew like Filet Mignon in the mouth and then you'd get that crunch from the almond and an explosion of Pie goodness! I'd get, like, 20 bags and then ration them out four almonds at a time until they were gone!
It is kind of like Bridge Mix, that lovely assorted nut selection swathed in chocolate. It is far too easy to OD on them.
I love that M&M is being daring with their flavors now. If only they'd come out with a dark chocolate lemon one! That's my favorite flavor combination.
